Hello!

I’m Marianne, and this is a project where I draw pictures of the things I’ve sewn, and reflect on the experience of making (and wearing) those things. Thank you for visiting!

Striped Sigma-Cielo

Striped Sigma-Cielo

Pattern: Sigma dress by Papercut Patterns with modified sleeve from the Cielo Top by Closet Core Patterns
Fabric: Cotton-linen yarn-dyed stripes from Stone Mountain and Daughter
Sewn Up: Spring 2022

This is another dress I made from my adjusted Sigma pattern, this time with the sleeves lengthened and the cuff from the Closet Core Cielo top added to the bottom. I narrowed the cuff by a few inches to remove a little bit of the drama from the original pattern, and am super happy with how this turned out!

This is my first time making a dress with a longer sleeve and shorter skirt, and I really like the proportions. My fondness for this lewk recalled a memory of being a kid and thinking that wearing a long sleeved shirt with shorts felt like a cool combo – I would rock that in early spring right when the weather started to get warm. I am excited to explore more of this proportion!
